How many sessions will I need?
Most areas need 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Hormonal areas like the face and chin, and coarser hair on the back and chest, often need 8 to 10. Your matched provider will give you an honest estimate at your free consultation.
Is it safe for my skin tone?
Yes. Providers in our network treat all Fitzpatrick skin types, I through VI. Where it matters, we match clients with darker skin tones to providers using Nd:YAG or diode lasers. These are safer for melanin-rich skin than older alexandrite-only devices. If you've been turned away elsewhere because of skin tone, request a match.
Will it work on gray, blonde, or red hair?
Laser targets pigment, so very light, gray, or white hair generally won't respond well. Dark blonde and red hair sometimes work, sometimes don't. Your matched provider will tell you that up front rather than sell you sessions that won't deliver.
What should I do before my first session?
Shave 24 hours before. Don't wax or pluck. Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after, because tanned skin can't be treated safely. Skip retinoids on the treatment area for a week prior. Your matched provider will send a full prep checklist once you book.
How is laser different from IPL?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a broad-spectrum light. Laser is a single, focused wavelength. IPL costs less per session but is less effective and less safe for darker skin tones. For permanent reduction across all skin types, a true laser like Nd:YAG, diode, or alexandrite is the right tool. Every provider in our network uses true lasers, not IPL.
